What is TVabsat?

TVabsat is an innovative new project. In its simplest form it is a 'one-stop-shop' digital TV content solution for African DTT Broadcasters. It will bring to Africa a bouquet of great free-to-air programming from International Channel Owners aggregated and multiplexed by Africa Broadcasting Specialist and ready go for DVB-T2. It will be transmitted over a pan-African footprint by a High Powered Satellite on Ku Band for ease of retransmission with minimal financial and technical implications.

Content is King! – The TVabsat Viewers' Experience

TVabsat contains multiple channels of top quality multi-genre programming covering; General Entertainment, News & Current Affairs, Special Interest, Religion, Documentary, Childrens TV, Sports and Shopping all on a free-to-air basis. Subject to standard NDA formalities further details can be made available to interested DTT Broadcasters and their Advisors.

The DTT Operators' Challenge and the TVabsat Solution

Viewers worldwide have high expectations of Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting which has a well-chronicled history of bringing many new channels to the customer whenever there has been an Analogue Switch Off on a country wide basis. African countries are no exception with South Africa, Nigeria and others already enjoying 30 or more new channels as an integral part of the Digital Dividend. To date most new DTT Broadcasting has only been available encrypted on a subscription basis but uniquely TVabsat will be offered on an entirely free-to-air basis. DTT Operators know the importance of not disenfranchising their customers in the ASO process but are constantly challenged to find new programming that is both affordable and technically straightforward to broadcast. The TVabsat bouquet has been assembled on a rights-cleared basis with the option for DTT Broadcasters to add-in localised content and commercials if required. Any viewer with a digital TV aerial and a simple set-top box will be able to pick up the new programming.
